Annual Theme Show: Elements In Art

We are pleased to announce Elements In Art, our Premier Themed Art Show and Sale, which will be held at the Huntsville Curling Club, 6 Veteran's Way, Huntsville May 1st and 2nd.

There are two components to this show. The first being a curated section involving the theme, the second will be booth displays open to all members who meet entry requirements.

With your participation, we eagerly look forward to hosting this as a yearly event: Same time, same location, different theme!

The fun doesn't stop there! For each division, member hosted outings will explore a particular element in a wide range of mediums. Currently we are working on venues for each each theme to be exhibited prior to the show and sale. Stay tuned for dates of themed outings, exhibition dates and application forms!

Members will be notified by email and by phone for each outing.

WRITERS WANTED

Dear members;

We are looking for articles of interest relating to art, written by or about our members and the art community in Huntsville, for publication on our website and for possible future publication in the press.

All members are welcome to contribute their submissions.

Possible areas of interest include: profiles of Muskoka artists and artisans (including yourself), hot topics in art, coverage of art events, art history and art theory, book reviews, ideas and opinions, or anything else that readers might find interesting.
Feel free to include photographs or graphic images with your submission.

You can submit your articles by email to the HAC Director of Marketing at: ninalaakso@ninalaaksodesigns.ca

Thank you,
Nina Laakso
Director of MarketingHuntsville Art Crowd

HOST A SOCIAL EVENT

Dear Members;

We would like to provide you with the opportunity for networking and self-promotion, the sharing of ideas and opinions, and the forming of friendships and connections with other members of the group. We would also like to endeavor to foster your sense of community and belonging to a special group of artists and art lovers, by introducing you all to one another through social events and group gatherings held within the community.

To achieve these goals, we are inviting members to plan and host social “arty” events open to all members of the Huntsville Art Crowd. These informal gatherings could include: A “sketch crawl”, a “paint out”, an afternoon tea, a studio tour, a demonstration, an art show, a photography hike or canoe trip, a pot-luck, a scrap booking party, a group art initiative, a talk, a bead exchange, movie night, or any excuse you can think of to get together, be creative - anything goes!

We want you to enjoy the benefits of your membership in a group of dynamic artists for all it is worth, by knowing your colleagues face to face and benefiting from their friendship. Just come up with an event plan and submit it to Col Mitchell, President of HAC, at ravon247@sympatico.ca, and she will send out your invitation to all members of the group.

HOST A WORKSHOP

The Huntsville Art Crowd is looking for artists and craftspeople to host workshops in their area of expertise, either in their homes, studios, or in public locations (to be determined). Workshops could include any artistic medium; photography, stained glass, sculpture, ceramics, papermaking, jewelry, wood work, glass work, etc…

Two types of workshops can be offered:

1. “Meet the artist” workshops: where a studio tour and demonstration are offered, but for practical reasons the students cannot try the art themselves.

2. “Hands on”: where the students have the opportunity to create their own piece of artwork, based on a demonstration and step by step instructions.

Workshops would be available to both members and to the general public, could be geared towards children, adults, or both, and would be advertised in the local media, with special invitations going out to HAC members via email.

No teaching qualifications are necessary, just a positive attitude and a good idea. Workshop hosts would be compensated for their expertise, time, and materials with a proportionate share of the fees collected by participants.

Please contact Nina Laakso,
Huntsville Art Crowd Director of Marketing
At 705-784-0500 or email her at ninalaakso@ninalaaksodesigns.ca with any questions, ideas, suggestions, or to apply with your workshop idea
